New girugamesh single “BORDER” available on JapanFiles

August 4, 2009 – Japanese rock band girugamesh releases its latest 2-track single “BORDER” in Japan today, and it’s available on the JapanFiles digital music website on the same day as its Japanese release. Fans in North America can download the single for just 99 cents a track in 320 kbps MP3 format.

Thanks to USA fans, over 4000 copies of their USA CD releases, “Girugamesh” and “MUSIC,” have been sold through the JapanFiles online store, online retailers, and Hot Topic stores nationwide. The USA releases feature Japanese-language booklets and artwork identical to the Japanese CD releases.

[Interview] The Epic of girugamesh

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 by Kathy Chee
Article written by Aaron Glickman

Since their skull shattering appearance at J-rock Revolution, girugamesh has been strangely quiet on the western front, but they haven’t been resting on their laurels. Having toured Europe and their native Japan, they will embark on another European Tour this May. After hitting several cities across the continent, they will be at the Metaltown Festival and the Tuska Open Air Festival, sharing the stage with a veritable “who’s who” of famous metal bands.

Still, we here in the states have been eagerly awaiting their triumphant return and were ecstatic to learn of their forthcoming appearance at this years Sakura-Con. When we talked, I immediately had to ask whether a U.S. tour was in the cards. After the entire band agreed that they would all want to do it, Shuu, their bassist, elaborated, “Right now, no opportunity has presented itself, but we would really be interested if it did.” Vocalist Satoshi was even more optimistic,“We’re going to do more tours, more lives. If you hold on, it’s definitely going to happen.”

Quick Notes from the Q&A

When asked what they thought of Sakuracon, the whole band stood up and chanted, “girugamesh!”

An inside source tells us that the band members were quite amused by the Sakuracon commercial.  Can you believe they even watched the remixes?  Jokingly (or maybe not) girugamesh mentioned wanting to meet the young gentleman in the commercial and perhaps have him cameo in a future song.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the original Sakuracon commercial.
