[press release] SYNC MUSIC presents: J-ROCK WORLDWIDE LIVE STREAMING

First time to introduce J-Rock to the world via USTREAM by Japanese music organizations!

Sync Music Japan, a collaborative effort of three Japanese music organizations, will broadcast live performances via Ustream by artists such as Mucc, Girugamesh and Plastic Tree. A major project to help Japanese artists to reach out to the world is now in full gear.

Sync Music Japan, a project founded by three music organizations for the purpose of expanding the Japanese music market to a global scale, will be launching Nexus, a live music event featuring performances from sixteen Japanese artists broadcast via Ustream on MySpace, on Saturday, June 5th and Sunday, June 6th. This is the very first time for a music organization to use USTREAM to broadcast an event live. SYNC MUSIC JAPAN will continue to encourage overseas promotion with such project to enthusiastically introduce Japanese artists to the world.

The Sync Music Japan project, organized by the Council of Music Associations Japan (consisting of Japan Association of Music Enterprises, Music Publishers Association of Japan and the Federation of Music Producers Japan), was started on March 26th for the purpose of expanding the Japanese music market to a global scale. Through the project’s page on social network service MySpace, approximately three hundred
Japanese artists have been promoted worldwide thus far. The upcoming live broadcasts are another facet of the project’s goal of introducing the world to Japanese music.

Spanning the course of three days, Nexus will be held at Shinkiba Studio Coast in Tokyo on June 4th-6th. The performances on June 5th and 6th will be broadcast live via Ustream.

■ June 5th “NEXUS: Battle 80’s Live Show: Band Boom Returns”

On June 5th, “NEXUS: Battle 80’s Live Show: Band Boom Returns” will feature artists from Japan’s 1980s “band boom” competing in a live battle of the bands event. Participants include Kyoichi Sugimoto and Magumi of La-ppisch, Issay of Der Zibet, Takehiko Hiroishi of Up-Beat, Hananosuke Mito of Angie, Kaori Moriwaka of Go-Bang’s, Kazuya Miyata of Jun Sky Walker(s), Tsuneo Akima of Marchosias Vamp, Jiro Kawakami of Kusu Kusu, Takashi Hamazaki of Flying Kids, and Gengaku of Gen.

■ June 6th “NEXUS: J-Rock Goes to the World”

June 6th’s event is “NEXUS::J-Rock Goes to the World”, a live J-rock show featuring performances from five visual kei artists who have already gained international followings. Scheduled performers include Aoi (lead singer of Ayabie), LC5 (a mysterious new group whose members have significant overseas touring experience), Girugamesh, Plastic Tree and Mucc. Each of these artists has been overcoming nationality and language barriers, boldly spreading Japanese music worldwide via their beautifully aggressive live performances.
